Can February March? No, but April May
We operate a Tor relay now. Not much to say about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We get a trivial amount of questions regarding Redstoner branded merch: keychains, shirts, etc. While we don't have anything set up as of now, let us know what you think about it and if you have any suggestions.
Talks of a (Trusted) UHC have been stirring "recently". If you've missed the thread, read it here. If you want to participate and you haven't signed up yet, even if you're not Trusted+, then you can do so here.
Villagers are now fixed in the survival worlds; they can spawn in newly generated villages, and should also be able to breed.
We've improved the Modules Wiki to be up to date and contain a few new things that are soon to be released.
Here are some notable changes:
- Logs: A module that allows staff to search logs ingame. Doesn't affect most players.
- Ignore: Allows players to actually ignore players almost everywhere, instead of just normal chat messages. While not out yet, it will be out within the next week, and the majority of the code was written a month ago.
- List: Fixed formating for Console line.
This month, I'll definitely be more active on adding some feature requests. However, if you wish to help, but don't know how to use or setup the ModuleLoader, ChatAPI, and ChestAPI, then I can help you along with the wiki.
A couple of website updates have been pushed out featuring a couple new features and miscellaneous bug fixes. Here are some notable changes:
- The website now runs Ruby 2.3.0.
- All gems the website uses are completely up to date now.
- Subforums now have atom feeds. Simply append a
.atomto the URL of the subforum and you will be presented with a feed you can subscribe to.
- IP addresses on users' profile pages now show the reverse address.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
After a year of building and creating, we have reset the survival and trusted survival worlds. Now, before you start freaking out, we saved the old worlds here in case you get nostalgic or whatever.
Trusted rank is a pretty exciting thing - it means that the staff absolutely trusts someone with powerful commands and access. Because of this, we'd like to once again recognize everyone who has earned that rank this year.
All trusted promotions in 2017:
- @minenash became a developer
- @HackerAttacker retired to join the USAF, and @Futsy took his place
- @Redempt retired from moderator
- @jomo retired from administrator
somehowbecame an administrator and web developer
Disclaimer: This might be edited later, so check in on it later if you want :P
New year, new small text
Halloween = Christmas; 31 OCT = 25 DEC
@Dico200 has returned to his previous roles of admin and developer. Welcome back!
@LogalDeveloper is now (officially) a web dev :D
@Sckrob has sadly retired due to personal reasons. She may return to the team in the future.
Spawn Fix and Update
It was brought to our attention recently that crops in spawn could be trampled- this has now been fixed.
We have also changed our main spawn to its Christmas version! Here are some screenshots, courtesy of Logal:
I thought you were posting this PJ.
Amuck, amuck, amuck!
@LogalDeveloper's SSH keys were accidentally uploaded to the production server, so I guess he's admin now.
@Minhplays was too busy protecting the US, so he has been demoted to allow him to protect full time.
@Yummy_ has been allowed back onto the staff team on the condition that he disposes of his Shrek shrine.
- No one. D:
The website was updated again! All the information about the update can be found in this blog post.
End portals have been entirely disabled in the creative world, but nether portals have been kept enabled. However, nether portals will no longer be glitchy as heck when you enter one. Now you can make nether portal doors without the fear of getting stuck in a portal! However, if you come across an end portal that was created before this fix, please let a staff member know so we can remove it.
Spawn has been spoopified for the spoopy holiday that we all know and love, Spoopoween.
Check it out today with
/spawn! However, be quick, because the spoop will disappear sometime in November!
Big thanks to @PyjamaL1ama, @Pepich1851, @cobra063, and @Doomblah for spoopifying the spawn.
Our christmas spawn from 2014 is now available for download! It contains many memes and a lot of nostalgia for our older players. Grab a copy here!
Everyone is dead!
- @Sckrob is now full mod! :D
- @Yummy_ retired from his developer position.

Creative spawn update!
Creative spawn got a complete rebuild! Check it out at
/cr or the blog post!
The website got a huge update! Amongst many additions, we have Who's Playing?, Dark theme (experimental) and a search feature! For more detailed information be sure to go check out the original post and thank @Yummy_ for most of the new features. He did a great job!
There now is a Redstoner Build Team, responsible for content creation for our social media. Currently @Ralp is the head of the Build Team, if you want to join or have any questions feel free to ask either him or me (@Pepich1851).
For several years, our creative world spawn has been comparable to a shitty orange tent. Even the likes of amateur campers and Glastonbury-goers would look upon it and laugh. However, that is no longer the case!
We have finally replaced the spawn with a much nicer-looking one, and we hope you like it as much as we do.
Here are some Fancy Shader Pictures™, courtesy of @Nemes:
@LogalDeveloper (Logal would like me to mention that all he did was move it over, but I think that he's worthy of some credit for that.)
And a special thank you to @Lingooo for building the amazing statues of the staff team!
Here is your Obligatory Small Text™, with a link to Continuum Shaders, the ones used in the above screenshots. Be warned though, they are quite taxing on hardware!
It's about time
Hey everyone! For the last two months, I have been working on the server's website (the one you're on right now ;P), adding new features and trying to make it a better place for users. The last few weeks, I've been spending hours on search algorithms, optimizing code, etc. almost to the point of insanity. But it was all worth it, because the day is finally here!
I will list here the features I have added and how they work.
UTC time option: for a few of these features, I added a new options page called "Website Settings" which is located in your edit profile page. This feature was put there. When enabled, every timestamp will be shown as an exact date (ex. 2017-04-29 15:48:24 UTC).
Header scroll: This option too is in Website Settings. When enabled, your header will move with you when you scroll on a page. This feature is still experimental, so do not report any bugs as we already know of them.
Dark theme: WARNING! This feature is still in development, and is not exactly the most pleasing thing at which to look. You may still enable it, however, in Website Settings.
Badges: I added a badge system to match the in-game system. Previously, only donor badges existed, but now there will be retired, lead, developer, and possibly more.
Who's Playing?: This feature will appear in the header, and is a page in which you can see each player on the server. This updates every time a player logs in or out, so it is a very accurate tool.
Necropost warning: To prevent necroposting in forums, I have added a feature that will ask the user to confirm that they want to make their reply even if the thread or last reply was created a certain amount of time ago.
Reverse replies: When in a thread, you can press the "Reverse Replies" button to, obviously, reverse the order of replies.
User search: In the users page, you may use the search bar to search IGN's and nicknames. The search allows you to only use a part of the name.
Thread search: honestly, this has so many functions, you can just try it out yourself. If you need assistance, just contact me or someone else who knows what they're doing.
I must give a big shoutout to @jomo, who worked with me to make my code as great as it could be when I was still learning the language, especially in thread searching. Thanks also to @LogalDeveloper, who spent hours testing and attempting to break my site. I couldn't have done it without them.
Please, please report any bugs or errors you find to the Website problems & bugs subforum, and any potentially exploitable or dangerous bugs to the Exploitable bugs subforum. I want to make sure your playing experience is as comfortable as possible.
This is not the only update that will be happening. There is still plenty of stuff to add (though I will be taking a break for a while). I will see you all on Redstoner!
Ruby on Rails is Satan incarnate
Happy holiday! At least for some of you.
/list and it's alias
/ls got an update! It looks nicer, lists ranks better and shows staff that is
spying on you watching how the server is doing on console!
You can also use
/list <rank> to list people of a certain rank, including console!
/staff was added as an alias for
/list staff, take a guess what that does.
Some eastereggs were also added, but that is up to you to find :)
Instead of reading this Small Text™, make an AI for this
Officially back on schedule
- @Sckrob is now mod in training! Wish her luck :3
- @Dico200 has stepped down after many years of actively managing the server, not to forget starting Redstoner as we know it today!
As mentioned in the last recap, teleportation commands are now disabled in survivals! (Except the ones that teleport you to spawn -
Weather was also fixed, it can rain now!
@Pepich1851 has been working tirelessly the past weeks to fix all the things and add the remaining modules back in place, I'm happy to announce that with the help of @Dico200, block-place-mods is finally back! Use the command
/mod to learn more in-game.
Update on server crashes
The crashes mentioned in the last recap have been fixed, turns out it was a spigot issue and updating it fixed™ everything!
There will be an inspiring quote here someday
As some of you may know, @Dico200, the founder of Redstoner, is leaving us to pursue other interests. I asked all of the staff members to write a short message to him to show how much we appreciate all that he did. Here is our goodbye:
Yummy: “When I joined this server, it was only for the purpose of learning redstone. However, I soon fell in love with the community and even if I didn't use redstone or build anymore, I knew I was here to stay. I remember one time when you showed me a pixel display you were working on and I was blown away by your ability. I now have a plentitude of friends, a greater knowledge of programming, and plans for my future. Thank you for starting this server Dico, you've changed my life.”
Redempt: “When I first joined this server, the first thing I did was challenge you to a redstone competition with my crappy 3x3 piston door using slime blocks. Admittedly, it was pretty fast… Later when I got MIT, you called me a skrub after I reminded you of that. You shall be missed o/”
Logal: “I can't make a good quote as it would either be shitty, accidentally be an insult, or something else. Either way, you will be deeply missed by me, the staff team, and all the fine players of the wonderful Redstoner community.”
Doomblah: “I only found this server because I was banned from CubeKrowd, I’d seen Dico around before on it and of course I watched all his videos. I’ve known Dico longer than Redstoner has been around, but I’ve known him better since. I wouldn’t have kept playing Minecraft if it weren’t for Redstoner, and Redstoner wouldn’t have existed without Dico, so thank you Dico for the best server ever, I’ll never forget it. Now to quote something I said to him a long time ago ‘Dico, sign my piston. After you sign it, it will be a sticky piston’. Thank you for the best 4 years of my life, I wish you the best on your future endeavours. Thank you, and goodbye.”
Futsy: “I support Logals quote. (aka I am not creative enough to come up with my own)”
Minh: “Well here goes nothing. The first time I ever heard of you was on Youtube. I saw many of your redstone creations and was amazed! I wanted to be just like you. So I went out in search for a server that provide that, and found a small server called Redstoner. I joined and to my surprise you were there. I have had some fun times with you derping around, but everything has to come to an end. I have always looked up to you and your redstone and will continue to do so while I am still a part of this amazing server. It has been almost 3 years since I joined the server. 3 years is a long time. In those 3 years many things have happened I completed high school, got my permit/licence, joined the military, and most of all had so many good times on the Redstoner server with all of my friends. Most if not everyone on the server are the same, not being too social and dont really like talking to people. But the server has changed that for many of us. I have many friends that frequent the server, and I talk to some on Teamspeak™ and have some really good times with them. You didn’t just make a server for people to create their redstone ideas, but a server for people who are one in the same to come on and share their ideas and make friends. In my eyes you created a whole community that is still rising to this day. I am like everyone else sad that you are leaving this great community but you will forever be remembered as the redstone god Dico200!”
PJ: “When I first joined Redstoner, I was on the verge of quitting Minecraft altogether. It was sort of a last effort to find some enjoyment in it. Redstoner has done much more than that, it has quite literally changed my life. I’ve made so many amazing friends and acquaintances because of it, and I’ve matured and developed as a person during my time here so far. However, none of that would have happened (at least not quite the way that it did) if it weren’t for you, Dico. For example, I remember when you promoted me to trusted, it made my day and was a massive surprise. Thank you so much for founding such a fantastic community! I’m definitely going to miss you, I hope you hop on to say hi sometimes even though you’re busy with real life. It’s been an honour to work with you for the year or so that I did.”
Minenash: "Redstoner has touched so many lives and started a vibrant community. None of it would've happened if it weren't for you. I'll definitely miss you. I hope to talk to you every once in a while."
jomo: "Thanks for bringing this whole thing to life. I met lots of nice people and learned a lot of things. Also thanks just for being a nice guy and hanging around on this and other servers back then™, you always had creative ideas to solve certain problems. Good luck with whatever you're spending your time with now 🎉"
