Whats wrong with necroposting?

WebsiteWebsite questions → Whats wrong with necroposting?

SOLVED

Rant time motherfuckers Aheeheeeee

So by your GENIUS logic, if some thread has already been abandoned for a month or so, you are not to post on it… ok then i have an input on a discussion, or an answer to one thats already “dead” So by your logic it shalt not see the forums ever? what are the alternatives…

make a thread refrencing to the dead thread… (dont see how that is any better since its exactly the fucking same thing +1 more thread.) Or make a duplicate thread wich is the same fucking thing again BUT is against the website rules and creates even MORE fucking clutter and useless threads. So feel free to enlighten me then what the fuck is one supposed to do?.

Also stop posting these giant ass fucking pictures all they doo is add more clutter to the website, here is news for ya ITS NOT AGAINST THE WEBSITE RULES.

I agree, it should be added to the rules
…What should be added to the rules???
Yeah right, read my post again provide a better alternative than necroposting and it might be considered lol
Ifyou have a question you ask the question if it wasnt answered on the abandoned thread then its not a duplicate :OOOO
yeah but you create another post that already referes to the old post, so whats the damn diffrence besides an additional useless thread.
so sub, what are the supposed problems about necroposting, it’s annoying and it brings a “dead” post to the top of the list. Alternative - dupe threads, what are the problems with them, they’re annoying, they put the post to the top and means people start up the same discussions and arguments. in case you can’t count, there are more negatives on the alternative.

My idea is, the most recently commented on post doesn’t go to the top of the list, and then we keep the newest posts on top and others free to comment on. This stops

it’s annoying and it brings a “dead” post to the top of the list.

problem with that is is people don’t go trawling through old posts for activity, they’ll look on the first couple of threads to see if anything has changed
@armadillo28 if that happend necroposting wouldnt be a problem
this whole thread is basically saying that necroposting isn’t a problem, make it legal and you’ll quickly see it really isn’t that big of a deal
its annoying thats the problem
i have a strong feeling this is going to go in a circle, but may you offer some alternatives before making stupid rules? there’s not an easy answer to this “problem” and pan has the best solution
My question is. Whats necroposting?
necroposting is posting on a thread that hasn’t had a reply for some time thereby bringing a dead thread back to life.

I pretty much agree with pan and dico on this….if someone has something relevant to say on a subject they should be allowed to do so. to all the people who have been posting these dumb pictures or simply posting ^^ necropost or some such thing…you are breaking a forum rule by going off topic on the thread.

The only time I would discourage people “necroposting” is on threads marked solved….unless they specifically have some new information on the issue.

people should be encouraged to mark things as solved. can the creator of a thread mark their thread as solved, if not then they should be able to to encourage unnecessary necroposting
The point of not necroposting is to not bring up that argument again. Unless something was denied or solved I think valid ideas that are old should be able to be brought up again.

@PanFritz Personally, I find most replies to 1 month old dead thread are either total bullshit, irrelevant, not necessary or share some input no one gives a shit about.

I didn’t read all the replies and I won’t.

Also stop posting these giant ass fucking pictures all they doo is add more clutter to the website, here is news for ya ITS NOT AGAINST THE WEBSITE RULES.

Thanks @PanFritz you made my day.

Personally, I find most replies to 1 month old dead thread are either total bullshit, irrelevant, not necessary or share some input no one gives a shit about.

@yop_tropix the new line of staff now pushed it to 1 week… I will prefer your option, but i’m not the one to choose.

@WinzarTheWolf I do not understand what you are trying to tell me.
What is so bad about responding to an old thread. the only alternative is to make a new thread exactly like the old one which is pointless
@yop_tropix i’m trying to say that the new website staff mark you as necroposting when yoy port on a thread that has been inactive for 1 week
Not including you i meant the new staff who were accepted in within last month

@NyxTheWolf “I will prefer your option”

Responding to an old thread if you have something valuable or relevant to say is important; it keeps people up to date on information that may affect them.

Reviving a thread to say “lol”, or to point out to staff that a thread needs to be locked is more of a nuisance than it is helpful, especially considering it now gets moved back to the top spot of the subforum.

This thread is locked.
