Hiyo,
So I started to chat to a friend in /msg yesterday when some mod answered a question id asked him…
I was not very happy… What of I was talking to him about completely private stuff or I was talking about where we are meeting (in real life) on the Saturday!
Or we were discussing where the new illuminati base was gonna be! (yolo) so yeah I think that staff should NOT be aloud to hear our /msg conversations (apart from maybe admins)
Please consider!

For one, if don’t want anyone to read your messages then don’t use the internet or get your own irc xmpp ts servers. Beacuse surprise any chat service you use hosted by someone else can be viewed by the host. (in most occasions anyway) As far as the /msg goes its not really meant for personal things as much as things that not everyone in chat has to see. The reason staff can see it is for people that are plotting things like lagging the server and such and to confirm /msg harrasment and or spam
What Pan said is right and I don’t think it is a good idea to change this. However staff should (and usually do) use this responsibly and not as a way to eavesdrop into other peoples discussions.
I hardly notice it, unless someone is spamming or using all caps (which is about 99% of msg rules breaks). I try not to eavesdrop, but occasionally (not often at all) I mistake it for actual chat, whoops
the staff should treat private msg’s confidentially unless it breaks rules, then it should be shared with as few people as possible to avoid offence, but i agree with @PanFritz if you want to talk about sensitive things you need to talk somewhere else, i use facebook as all they look for are things to sell you
