LOGIC!

For instance when people say is the sky blue, people will normally reply…

Short answer yes. Long answer no.

Well N O is the shorter answer because it has 2 letters… so that means Y E S is the long answer is longer because it has 3 letters.

So what, logically, we should be saying, is.

“Daddy… is the sky blue” “Short answer No. Long Answer Yes.”

But that means that, in short the sky is not blue, in short however can also be thought of as how big the concept is. Not in size but in conception. So in that respect yes is the short answer?!?!? Because yes to the human eye it looks blue. No would be the long answer because it would go onto explain about the atmosphere and pollution etc.

==so what is a short answer and what is a long answer?!?!? Put your views in the comments==

Alright, I’m going into full philosophical mode.

We must define a “short” and “long” answer. To do that, we must first define “answer”, “short”, and “long.” The true answer is a response to a question, that seems to solve it with full citation and a philosophical proof. Short, in the metaphorical sense, can mean to be taking a small amount of time. Long, in the metaphorical sense, can mean to be taking a large(r) amount of time compared to “short.”

Therefore, the short answer can be considered “Yes” because it takes a small amount of time to explain, and the long answer “No” because it takes a large amount of time to explain.

however short can refer to a length and long a larger length then short. so in that respect it is the other way around
