I suggest that we make and install a plugin that will automatically kick you if you say any word in chat that is also in a custom list of your own. In addition, I also suggest that a command accessible by anyone to toggle this feature only for the user. This will only affect people who have this enabled with the command, and only if they have that word in their own custom list.
This will help change the bad habits of one in the Redstoner chat, such as my current habit of drifting towards sexual subjects. One could make a list, and when the plugin detects a word from the list that is chatted by that user, then it will punish the user, preferably only by kicking. This will help improve our community into a friendlier community, where people can be happy about each other’s habits.
To address you, @Lucas11yoshi, I shall give an example. Say I made a list. The following includes the “banned” words/phrases: porn, pornography, dildo, pussy, cock. If I say any of these words/phrases in chat, the plugin will automatically kick you. Now, about kick spam, a moderator can address that.
@Dico, My example is arguably one of the best examples. In addition, staff are not always on the server, especially when it’s 4:00–11:00 GMT. This can be useful in situations when people want to quit cussing on the server. The plugin could be modified further to help one stop using full capitals in public chat (not in CGs or /tell s). I also mentioned a command that will enable/disable this feature, so it is up to someone to use this or not; it will be friendly to those who relish talking on these subjects/habits.
If I say any of these words/phrases in chat, the plugin will automatically kick you.
Wait, I didn’t understand, who’ll get kicked?
This is a personal plugin, and will only apply to the person that:
- Has enabled the plugin for themselves
- Has said a word in chat that also is in the custom list that they made
For example, if I said “pornography”, and if “pornography” is in my list, and I have enabled the filter for myself, then I would get automatically kicked. If I didn’t enable the plugin for myself, then it would not kick me.
@Blue, it would encourage good spelling, and I mentioned a command that would enable/disable this. Of course, instead of an enable/disable command, you could just put nothing in your list. Also, I don’t see how things could get messed up.
@Valsim72, hopefully, after reading the previous reply by me, you will understand this, but it will only kick a user if:
- they have that word on their list.
- they have enabled the plugin only for themselves.
@ArhurValk, this plugin is meant for people that want to stop bad chat habits, so if they do use L337 to bypass the filter, they might as well just disable it for themselves.
I hope this clarifies a lot of things.
Another example of this in real life might clarify things further.
Say you want to stop cussing, and you asked a friend to punish you lightly whenever you cussed. That friend is like this plugin: it is by your own free will, and it punishes you lightly.
I can imagine the kick thingy will only create a massive “left/joined” spam, and if it doesn’t, it would mean no one’s using it. I think it would be better to do something that prevents your message from displaying if it contains a word from your list.
Also, if you want to efficiently change your language habits, you’ll need more than a mere plugin wich only takes effect on one particular server (or perhaps you only play on here?).
I’m sure a very few people (if not only you) would use this plugin. If it were to show any efficiency, the people using it would stop needing it, since I doubt some new unwanted language habits will appear.
Just gain some will power, and you won’t need such a thing.
Due to more powerful reasons to not implement this, I hereby declare that I will not support this request, and that this thread shall be marked closed.
