Extended Hotbar

The extended hotbar mod (made by G4me4u) is a way to “move” inventory slots into your hotbar. Whereas the default length of the hotbar is 9 items long with 3 almost wasted lines within the inventory, this mod can set your hotbar to be 18 or even 36 inventory slots long. The length of the hotbar can be changed ingame and client side by the command
/hotbar 9
/hotbar 18
/hotbar 36

The current approach on redstoner to “increasing” the hotbar size is the much hated cycle plugin. Let’s all take a moment to shiver and cringe at all the guests we have had to direct on how to disable this plugin and my constant, fruitless attempts to have it off by default. This reaction is shared by most of the people on the server and the extended hotbar mod is a better solution in almost everyone’s opinion.
But Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrma you dumbass, it’s a client side mod why do you need the server to install it too?
Well, my friend, I’m afraid this mod doesn’t really work on servers without it being installed because you get kicked when selecting an item in one of the extra slots:

Dico mentioned that it may have to be a plugin rather than a mod; in response to this G4me4u says, and I quote:
It may be possible, if not it needs to be updated only once per minecraft update.

I’ll be happy to be rid of cycle for this :)
So your so bad at inventory managment you started making mods to expand ur inventory. Alright i see this could be useful

I don’t quite get what you mean hacker. I want this and have had positive assurance that it’s likely to happen and the only other thing I’ve requested (the signal strength plugin) was also implemented. If you actually have a decent idea unlike the majority of stuff that goes into this subforum then it can happen. I think this place is perfectly prominant for actually useful and good ideas.
Unless of course I misinterpreted your post :p

Also, if this gets implemented, or even if it doesn’t, can we please remove cycle, or at least have it off by default?
@Doomblah
its optional tho, so whats the problem?
Did you read this too?
It’s more complicated to manage
If you want an extended hotbar, stop being lazy and spend some time getting used to cycle. It’s a great plugin we’ve had for a while even if not many people use it, because it takes some getting used to. We intentionally left it on by default because we simply want everyone to know about the option, so it’s not completely ignored.
getting used to cycle means i constantly need to know exactly where every item i want is in my inventory. I also constantly clear my inventory out of habit for the purpose of inventory management so I’m well organised and the way that i am means cycle doesn’t work :p
extended hotbar is superior in every way i can think of…
Its extrememly easy to keep your inventory clean and useable without having to clear it entirely and re giving yourself what you need
Look how i keep my inventory, every block/ item i ever need in an order i always know, use 1-9 (or shiftclicking) to get it into and out of ur hotbar quickly. Super simple, in fact with it always in this order its probably perfect for cycle

and this is how i like to keep mine: (obviously different when i have the mod on btw, just want to make that clear otherwise getting this mod would be pointless lol)

If you’re happy with the cycle plugin then fine, but do a poll - I assure you the majority of people hate it
And if you’re not talking about the plugin, and just doing it manually, the whole point of this mod is to make that easier. If you don’t need it to be easier then fine, but it’s nice to have everything nice and accessible.
Well arma, I suggest you try to change your habits if you want a longer hotbar. What doom showed looks like a good habit too me which I might try to adapt. There’s not much support for the idea of having a server mod/java plugin that even requires a client modification to work, for reasons stated earlier. People hate it because they seem to be too lazy to adapt. I can’t disagree, cycle isn’t the easiest in terms of use, but it’s a simple, working alternative that doesn’t require any server/client modifications or a whole new plugin.
