Text formatting on the website

Last edited .

We're using a modified version of Markdown, which you might know from reddit, Discourse, or GitHub. It is a simple to read and write Markup language and much easier to read and write compared to BBCode or MediaWiki!

This page only lists the differences to this Markdown Cheat Sheet which covers everything else

Mentions

This is not part of Markdown, but you can mention users by prefixing their IGN with @.
You will see a list of users as you start typing, you can select them with the arrow keys and hit tab to complete the name.

Mentioned users will receive a notification, unless they have disabled it.

Separating quotes

This was not added by us, but it's a relatively unknown hack.
Use an empty link to separate multiple quotes:

> Quote A

[]()

> Quote B

Quote A

Quote B

Superscript

You can (ab)use superscript for small text:

This is an ^example and ^(one with longer text) too

YouTube

You will need the ID of the video you are posting. If you do not know how to do that, this is the easiest way:

  1. Use the "Share" button below the video on YouTube and copy the youtu.be URL
  2. The part behind the last / is the video ID

Example:

https://youtu.be/Nh5uisxlJVU

The video ID is Nh5uisxlJVU.

[yt:Nh5uisxlJVU]

Please note that this feature is experimental! It's self-made and a bit buggy, e.g. when put in a code block it will still render as video!

Starting at a specific time

To start at 5 seconds, simply append :5 to the video ID:

[yt:Nh5uisxlJVU:5]
